Root Down to Rise Up...

Root Down to Rise Up ~
On Grounding, Centering, and Cultivating Inner Peace...

(Plus, a free gift!!)

Whew! I don’t know about you all, but my energy has been free floating and feeling a little chaotic lately. (Being an Earth Sign and having a lot of Earth in my chart, that’s saying a lot!)
I am also a highly attuned and sensitive Being, so any fluctuations in the moon, the weather, changing seasons, my own cycle, disconcerting community and global happenings, I have a tendency to energetically feel it all...even at the most subtle levels.

Which is an absolutely beautiful gift, but one that I must give care to tenderly.
I also find that when a creative surge shows up and decides to find a home within me – just as it did this past weekend – while delighted and ecstatic to enjoy its unexpected presence, it can certainly shake my sense of grounding, too.

The creativity pleads for to me to transmute it and offer it out at a faster rate than I can process it. I know this because I can literally feel the creative ideas swirling around rapidly in my head-space knocking on my brain asking to be let out.

Over the years, however, I've learned that the more I try to prematurely unravel its message, the more I find myself stuck in circling thought as I try to figure out how it’s wanting to show up and what it’s needing to say. That “trying to figure it” out goes nowhere fast, and often leads me to a headache and the feeling of overwhelm. Which is definitely NOT the state I wish to be transmuting quality services and creative ideas from.
So, this is how I honored the chaotic and creative energy that left me feeling ungrounded this past weekend…
…I simply let it be.
I didn’t try to make it go away, because I know that when something feels uncomfortable for us to experience is resisted, it will only keep showing up…louder, and louder, and louder!
Instead, I thanked it for its presence, passion, and persistence, and reassured it that I know it has something really glorious and valuable to say. I also reminded it that in order for me to best transmute its gift and message, that I needed to slow down with it and give it lots of space to work out some of its own kinks.

So, while allowing it to just be – and be witnessed by me – I did what I knew how to do to keep myself sane and grounded while its rambunctiousness carried on...

I walked…a lot.
I journaled and brainstormed.
I read in a book by Ram Dass.
I ate nourishing food, and enjoyed some ice cream, too.
I delighted in napping...and enjoyed hot, soothing, lengthy showers.
I stretched, did yoga, and did breathwork.

And guess what happened to that rambunctious, wildly chaotic, creative energy?!

NOTHING! Absolutely nothing!
It was still there – loud, clear, chaotic, and persistent.

What did change, though, was my response to its intrusive meanderings. I am not my thoughts – I simply have thoughts. This self-reminder was enough for me to move from participant to witness, and not be carried away or entangled by its jumbled mystique.
So, here’s the long and short of it…whatever you’re going through, whatever has you feeling un-grounded, un-centered, and a little chaotic in your thoughts and actions…know that you’re not alone. Know that the longer you resist the momentary discomfort, the longer it’ll likely keep its grip on you.

Instead, stay open to it. Be curious by it. Reassure the discomfort (or creative surge) that you know there’s wisdom to be learned in its message, but that in order for you to fully receive and effectively translate its wisdom, that you need to take care of yourself, slow down, and offer yourself healthy choices that help to ground you. Hang tight and be patient. The discomfort will soon dissolve, and the wisdom will come.

Until then…I’m leaving you with a little gift!
To help support your process of grounding, centering, and cultivating inner peace – especially during times of discomfort and turmoil – I’ve created a Guided Meditation for you!

This is a fantastic blog post, Jewell - incredibly well-written! ~ Having an earth sign and a lot of earth energy in my astrological chart, I deeply resonate with the need for grounding. While I have learned to move with chaos, my preference is to move with nature - absorbing its gifts and calming guidance. ~ And may I say, your photos are fabulous! 🤩

Thanks for your share, Tina! I'm glad this resonated with you. I like your words..."I have learned to move with chaos." Very much a skill-set that takes a little more time for some of us to learn. But pretty darn vital!

Thanks, too, for your sweet compliments on my photos. They're fun to take and play with!

What a great blog post Jewell! Thanks for the tips of that crazy energy...I've been feeling it too lately and allowing it to just be. I'll be sure to use your meditation yet today. :)
